Data Protection: Parishes and the GDPR

Posted on Wednesday 8 November 2017
The Church of England, via the Parish Resources website, has issued guidance notes for parishes on the upcoming GDPR (General Data Protection Regulations), which comes into effect on the 25 May 2018.

It replaces the existing law on data protection (the Data Protection Act 1998) and gives individuals more rights and protection in how their personal data is used by organisations. Parishes must comply with its requirements, just like any other charity or organisation.

The Parish Resources page provides guidance, templates and a checklist to help you.

It will be updated from time to time – so please check back periodically.
