‘The Pioneer Exchange’ will provide an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic individuals to explore pioneer ministry within a programme of tailored learning, and by working in local ‘Blended Economy’ parish contexts that have both traditional and Fresh Expression of Church, within the Diocese of Ely.
The Pioneer Exchange is looking to appoint six ‘Pioneer Partners’ to serve for two years to experience parish ministry and to start a pioneering project. Placements will be in rural or urban settings located across Cambridgeshire, West Norfolk, and Peterborough and successful applicants will live together in shared rented accommodation in two hub locations and will be paid the National Living Wage. Two placements will allow the applicant to choose to apply for a Youth Ministry focus engaging with 11-18s.
Peter Wood Director of Mission, Diocese of Ely says: “It’s great to be offering this new pathway for exploring vocation. We believe that Pioneer Partners will fast become an important new community within the life of the Diocese”
Ed Olsworth-Peter, Adviser for Fresh Expressions of Church and Young Adults, Diocese of Ely adds: ”We have an exciting vision to grow the culture of pioneer ministry within the Diocese of Ely. The Pioneer Exchange provides a great opportunity for both parishes and individuals to explore new ways of being church within these communities”.
Rachael Heffer, Youth Adviser, Diocese of Ely says: “We are thrilled to launch The Pioneer Exchange programme, believing it will provide rich and varied experiences in a wide variety of Youth-focused or general ministry opportunities, as well as having the stimulus of a varied training programme and vocational coaching.”
A full and immersive training programme will explore discipleship, vocation, leadership, community transformation as well as pioneering and Fresh Expressions of Church with the opportunity to create a learning track tailored to specific interests. Ongoing support will be given by the Diocesan Vocation Adviser to allow individuals to explore their vocation and calling.
A weekly learning community will provide a space to theologically reflect on what is being learnt which will be run by a Project Mentor. Pioneer Partners will be invited to pitch for funding from our Local Mission Project Fund to kick start or rejuvenate a pioneering project that they will lead on in their placement parish supported by a facilitated Action Learning Set.
The Diocese of Ely is hosting a Recruitment Day on Tuesday 25th April 2017 at the diocesan offices, Bishop Woodford House, Ely. This will be an opportunity to meet the project team, hear about the placements, and to ask questions. Please send completed application forms to firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday 26th May 2017. Interviews will take place at the end of June 2017.
