Children's ALM Course
Every Spring we run a training course for those wishing to specialise in Lay Ministry training. It covers a wide range of topics from theology to learning styles, from imaginative storytelling to creative prayer and faith formation.
The next course has a provisional start date of Saturday 9th March 2019. It comprises four components:
- Full attendance at a 10 week Growing as a Discipleship course (held locally)
- Full Attendance at 3 Core Training Days plus 3 optional Wednesday evening sessions - delegates can choose three topics from 5 sessions offered
- Completion of three short practical assignments based on training with the Children’s Adviser
- Completed Relevant Safeguarding Training
Would you like to be part of this growing team? By the end of this year we expect to have 24 Children’s ALMs in the Diocese supporting children’s faith development.
Some comments from a recent Childrens’ ALM course;
‘The course is very thought provoking and has a practical element which is incredibly useful.’
‘If you work with children in church-DO IT! A treasure chest of skills, ideas and resources can be yours and you will have fun learning!!’
‘Initially I felt like a ‘fish out of water.’ I am now inspired, encouraged and enthusiastic. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to think more about children’s ministry.’
The ALM Course is offering a choice of 5 evening sessions this year. If people are completing the ALM course they will need to select three. However, please note that these free evening sessions are available for anyone to attend. To book, please contact Matt Thorne.
Sessions: Coming soon
Every year Ely Diocese, Genr8 and URC Eastern Synod work together to offer training events. We offer a day Autumn Conference and a ‘Big Picture’ event once every two years and ‘bite-size’ evening seminars in the intervening Autumn.
Our next event 'Encounter' takes place on Saturday 13th October 2018. Rachel Turner from Parenting for Faith will be our keynote speaker and there are 15 workshops to choose from throughout the day, including an Under 5s stream. Poster is shown below but you can download the poster, booking form and workshop details from the links below.
We also run free seminars for Teachers, Parents, GPs, Clergy, Youth Leaders & Social Workers to learn about mental health issues faced by children and young people. More information about the next seminars is coming soon.
