Every Spring we run a training course for those wishing to specialise in Lay Ministry training. It covers a wide range of topics from theology to learning styles, from imaginative storytelling to creative prayer and faith formation.

The next course begins on Saturday 24 February 2018. It comprises four components:

  • Full attendance at a 10 week Growing as a Discipleship course (held locally)
  • Full Attendance at 3 Core Training Days plus 3 optional evening sessions-delegates can choose three topics from 5 sessions offered (see below)
  • Completion of three short practical assignments based on training plus an observed session with the Children’s Adviser
  • Complete Relevant Safeguarding Training

Would you like to be part of this growing team? There are currently 19 Children’s ALMs in the Diocese supporting children’s faith development and we already have bookings for next Spring 2018.

Some comments from the 2017 Childrens’ ALM course;

‘The course is very thought provoking and has a practical element which is incredibly useful.’

‘If you work with children in church-DO IT! A treasure chest of skills, ideas and resources can be yours and you will have fun learning!!’

‘Initially I felt like a ‘fish out of water.’ I am now inspired, encouraged and enthusiastic. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to think more about children’s ministry.’

The ALM Course is offering a choice of 5 evening sessions this year. If people are completing the ALM course they will need to select three. However, please note that these free evening sessions are available for anyone to attend. To book, please contact Matt Thorne.
