Social justice has always been central to the Diocese’s mission orientation.
A Board for Social Responsibility was set up by Diocesan Synod in October 1971 on the recommendation of General Synod, with the brief to ‘co-ordinate and encourage Church social work in the Diocese’.
Within the current Mission Team, Jes Salt was appointed in the autumn of 2015 as Social Justice Coordinator with a specific focus on Foodbanks, and Credit Unions.
We believe that it is imperative for us to engage with issues of Social Justice and aim to respond to current needs within our culture and society, to enable and train Christians to engage with such matters with a sense of priority, concern, prayerfulness and practical application to see things change.
