Board of Patronage

Patronage is the right to put forward a person to take up a particular type of clergy post. This means to present a person to a Church of England benefice. This person is then appointed by the bishop.

The Diocese of Ely Board of Patronage has a number of livings in the diocese in its gift. It is responsible for nominating a clergy person to the bishop when a vacancy arises.

The Closed Churches Uses Committee

The Closed Churches Uses Committee acts in an advisory capacity when a church, which is still the responsibility of the PCC, ceases to be used or becomes redundant.

If a church is formally closed, then responsibility passes to this committee which will seek to find an alternative use for the building.
