Assistant Curate (Training Post)

Assistant Curate (Training Post) - Sawtry, Glatton and Holme with Conington

This rural Benefice, located 30 minutes from central Cambridge and 20 minutes from Peterborough, comprising three small villages and one larger village, together is home to a truly incredibly socio-economically diverse population of 10,300.

The Benefice has a shared pattern of Eucharistic worship blended with Services of the Word and various study groups (as well as continuing its recently-developed and well-received online offerings) across its three growing churches, each involving fruitful cross-generational ministry. This is supported by a passionate and gifted ministry team of lay people and retired clergy, headed up by an energetic and visionary incumbent, the Revd Becky Dyball.

Becky is building on good relationships with the four schools in the Benefice (three Primaries, one of which is C of E, and one large Secondary school), a considerable ministry and fruitful outreach through the Occasional Offices, creative new missional possibilities, and great ecumenical opportunities, to develop the Church’s impact in the region.

With a supportive church community being encouraging and willing to discern, listen and even take risks, this is a superb training opportunity where a curate will participate in shared ministry alongside an enthusiastically collaborative incumbent who is passionate about mentoring and enabling others in the mission of the Church. An ethos of joy, prayer, hospitality, openness to learning, flourishing, fun, and being fully alive as followers of Christ marks this as a spirit-filled Benefice where the Kingdom of God can be truly glimpsed.

A house will be made available for the better performance of the postholder’s duties.
