Archdeaconry Developments: Appointment of an Interim Assistant Archdeacon, Archdeaconry of Cambridge - Revd Nick Moir
7 September 2026
Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
I am pleased to announce that the Revd Nick Moir, Incumbent of Fen Ditton, Horningsea and Teversham, and Rural Dean of Cambridge North, has agreed to serve as an Assistant Archdeacon focusing on the Archdeaconry of Cambridge.
This is a 9-month time limited role. Nick will start this role on Monday 14 September initially for 1.5 days, increasing to 2.5 days from 1st October. Nick will work closely with Archdeacon Richard who will retain the Archidiaconal statutory responsibilities for the Cambridge Archdeaconry. A copy of the role description is attached (click here) for role clarity. Nick may be contacted on nick.moir@elydiocese.org or Tel: 01223607433
As you will appreciate the departure of Alex Hughes to serve as the Bishop of Brixworth has meant that Archdeacon Richard has been overseeing both Archdeaconries. I am so grateful for Nick's willingness to serve us in this way, and he has a strong sense of call and equipping for this moment. I am also thankful to the Church Wardens and people of Fen Ditton, Horningsea and Teversham for releasing Nick for this ministry. The parishes will be served in their turn by one of our third-year curates on secondment for whom this is an excellent development opportunity. During this nine-month period we will be working on the appointment of the substantive Archdeacon of Cambridge.
Please pray for Nick as he takes on this responsibility.
New Executive Assistant to the Archdeacons and Parish Support Officer - Jake Myers
I am also delighted to announce that Jake Myers has joined the Diocesan team as Executive Assistant to the Archdeacons and Parish Support Officer. Based in the Diocesan Office, Jake will be supporting Nick Moir, Richard Harlow, and the Strengthening Multi Parish Benefices Programme, one of our key diocesan mission projects.
Jake joins us in a full-time capacity, bringing together the responsibilities previously undertaken by two part-time personal assistants, Karen Steyn and Anne Billings-Smith.
This new arrangement will help provide seamless support across the Archdeacons' Office and strengthen collaboration across our work. Jake can be contacted at jake.myers@elydiocese.org or archdeacons.events@elydiocese.org.
Please feel free to get in touch with him for general enquiries for archdeacons (or where you are unsure who to contact), work relating to the Strengthening Multi Parish Benefices Programme, or anything that is not confidential to Nick or Richard.
We are very pleased to welcome Jake to the team and look forward to the contribution he will make to the life and ministry of the Diocese.
Yours in Christ,
+Sarah
