Celebrating with our first Discovering Chaplaincy cohort

Our first cohort of Discovering School Chaplaincy course joined with others involved in schools’ mission and chaplaincy in the Diocese of Ely, for an afternoon of celebration, networking and sharing of ideas.

The participants were presented with their certificates - pictured here with Jon Young, Diocesan Director of Education; Rev'd Mandy Flaherty, Growing Younger Enabler for Parish-Schools Mission; and Revd Canon Peter Leech, Director of Mission and Ministry.

During the afternoon, Victoria Goodman, LLM & Schools Project Worker, Church Schools of Cambridge, delivered an interactive Storytelling and Spirituality workshop; the Revd Alexandra Clarke, Chaplain at St Bede’s Inter-church School talked about Chaplaincy and Spirituality in Schools; and Zoe Cutter, volunteer school chaplain, talked about her experiences of volunteering in school, and how you could look to develop your role according to your context and gifting.

This first cohort of the course, which was written by the Growing Faith Foundation and delivered in Ely Diocese by the Revd Mandy Flaherty, gave us some feedback on their experience:

‘It was very insightful into what School Chaplaincy is about’

‘Great, accessible, insightful training’

‘Inspirational Talks’

‘It made me explore my options and how I could contribute in chaplaincy work’
