We Welcomed Special Guests as The Ven Richard Harlow led us in praise with readings, hymns and prayers.
All Saints Church, Wretton with Stoke Ferry, welcomed friends from around the benefices of Wissey Valley and Grimshoe as we reconnected with past incumbents. The Ven Richard Harlow led us in a joyful service where the new Incumbents Board was dedicated.
Mrs Ann Bennett (centre), Rev Alan Bennett’s wife, who has just celebrated her 90th birthday, was joined by her family and shared much love with many in the local parishes where she and Rev Alan were so warmly received in the 1980s and 90s.
Rob Howes had composed a hymn which he dedicated to “the Rev Alan Bennett and all people of faith and none” which was sung by the choir and accompanied by Chris Young on the church organ.
Fr Nigel Tuffnell (top right) joined us from nearby Swaffham and Sporle, in the diocese of Norwich and Rev Ken Waters (middle) who was our Priest in Charge before he went to work in Cyprus. Rev Carol Nicholas-Letch returned from Northampton for the service and Rev Dr Ian Mack was able to join us for the day.
There was a delightful opportunity for fellowship after the service where everyone was able to have a chat and catch up with these wonderful people who have shaped our communities and we are so grateful for such a wonderful occasion.
