On the occasion of Easter Sunday in 1926, a choir of over 50 sang Handel’s Messiah in St Mary’s Church, Doddington; thought to be the first live outside broadcast from Cambridgeshire by the BBC.
BBC Radio Cambridgeshire returned to St Mary's Doddington 100 years later to record an interview celebrating the occasion.
You can listen back to the segment on BBC sounds until 5 May. (Aired during the Chris Mann show, broadcast on 6 Apr 2026. The interview starts at 11:34 and finishes at 11:54 with a song in between.)

The Rev'd Canon Dr Mark Collinson, Rector of the Six Fen Churches Benefice said:
"We have a small choir of 5 or 6 who are going to sing the Hallelujah Chorus this Sunday to mark the event.
Handel's Messiah was the perfect choice for an Easter concert as the piece is a celebration of hope and joy."
