News from the Parish Buying team - Contactless Payments

Posted on Wednesday 24 October 2018
In April 2018, hand-held contactless card readers were made available for parishes to buy at a discount through the Parish Buying service.

There are now over 400 churches (nationally) using these card readers for a variety of purposes, from wedding fees and hall hire payments, to café charges and donations.

As the technology continues to develop, we [Parish Buying team] continue to test other types of card payment solutions

  • The trial of large contactless donation units in cathedrals is now coming to an end. A report on the findings, along with guidance for other churches on using this type of technology, will be published on the Parish Resources website later in the autumn.
  • We have just launched a new trial of digital donation boxes, which can be passed around the congregation for contactless giving.
  • Two smaller type of free standing donation units are now available to buy through the Parish Buying website. You can find out more about these by logging into the Parish Buying website here –

To keep informed when new donation units are available, please register for free with the Parish Buying service.
