Bishop Stephen presents Duke of Edinburgh Awards at 2nd Sawston Boys’ Brigade

On the 29th April, at the Sawston Marven Centre, the Bishop of Ely attended the annual parents evening for Sawston Youth Group (The Boys’ Brigade)

There were over 150 people present and the Bishop led devotions and presented many Duke of Edinburgh Awards.

The group has over 60 members aged from 6yrs to 18yrs and has been working in Sawston since 2001. It is part of the national Boys’ Brigade movement which is the largest Christian youth organisation in the UK.

The evening included a tribute to the commitment, enthusiasm and guidance the group has received from Rev Alan Partridge, Vicar of St Mary’s Church, Sawston to which the group is affiliated.

The Bishop presented 4 Bronze Awards, 3 Silver Awards and 5 Gold Awards which have been achieved in the last twelve months.

The Bishop closed the evening with a blessing.
