Parish Giving Scheme achieves 1,000 donors

The Diocese of Ely now has over 1,000 planned givers donating regularly to their church through the Parish Giving Scheme.

The Parish Giving Scheme (PGS) was launched in our Diocese in 2017.  Ely is one of 27 Dioceses participating in the PGS.  Over 80 of our 321 parishes are now using the scheme and are seeing real benefits in terms of

(i) increased regular giving

(ii) inflation-proofed giving

(iii) faster recovery of gift aid

(iv) reduced administration for the Treasurer or Gift Aid Officer.

The 1,000th donor is from St Mary’s Church, Gamlingay, which recently joined the PGS.  Priest-in-Charge, The Revd Hilary Young, and PCC Treasurer Ian Parker said:

“We at St Mary’s Gamlingay have recently signed up to the Parish Giving Scheme and have been delighted at the initial take-up. We hope this will be a much more efficient way for our regular donors to give to the church. We are delighted to learn that the Diocese’s 1,000th donor to the PGS is in our parish and we thank that person and all our planned givers for their continuing support of the church in our Cambridgeshire village”.
