Funding for social aid

Funding for social aid

There are two trust funds associated with the diocese which make small grants towards charitable activities aimed at the relief of social deprivation.

  • The Council for Social Aid currently supports projects such as EARTH, the Ely based horticultural centre for those with a variety of long term disabilities, charities working with the homeless, church projects, counselling services, parish nurses etc.
  • The Cambridge Female Welfare Fund, has similar objectives but support is restricted to girls and women. Recently, grants have been made to support the Extension Appeal at Whitworth House for homeless women in Cambridge, and the special projects for teenage mothers at Romsey Mill in Cambridge.

Applications for grants can be made from any part of the diocese but cannot be made for individuals.

Trustees meet twice a year, in March and October. The Chairman is the Revd. John Sansom. At the moment, we are particularly interested in hearing from projects in the north of the Diocese of Ely.

For further information, please contact Jon Green or download the application form from this page.
