Funding for Social Aid in the Diocese

Funding for Social Aid in the Diocese

There are two trust funds associated with the Diocese of Ely that make small grants towards charitable activities aimed at the relief of social deprivation.

The Council for Social Aid currently supports projects such as EARTH, the Ely based horticultural centre that enables people of a range of ages with varying abilities to work alongside each other in real horticultural situations. It also supports charities working with the homeless, church projects, counselling services and parish nurses etc.

The Cambridge Female Welfare Fund, has similar objectives but support is restricted to girls and women. Recently grants have been made to support the Extension Appeal at Whitworth House for homeless women in Cambridge and the special projects for teenage mothers at Romsey Mill in Cambridge.

Applications can be made from any part of the Diocese, but cannot be made for individuals. Trustees meet twice a year, in March and October. The Chairman is the Revd. John Sansom. We are particularly interested in hearing from projects in the north of the Diocese.

For further information prior to application, please contact Jon Green by email at  jon.green@elydiocese.org.

An application form for a funding request can be downloaded here. Please complete the form and return it by post as indicated.
