Safeguarding and Safer Recruitment

  • Policy and Practice Guidance notes, as well as templates and parish forms relating to Safeguarding and Safer Recruitment can all be found on the Diocese safeguarding pages linked here.

PCC Policies - The Parish Resources website

  • It's important to agree certain policies as a PCC. This will help you ensure that you have the processes in place to manage potential issues, and that you've agreed as a Council how you will do this.

Data Protection: Parishes and the GDPR

  • The Parish Resources website provides templates and information to help you ensure your GDPR compliance which can be accessed here.

Records Management Guides - A Church of England Resource

  • These guides are designed to help parishes, dioceses, bishops and cathedrals develop a consistent and best practice approach to looking after church records in their care, whether paper or electronic.
  • There is a separate guide for each specific set of church records. Each guide contains some general records management advice along with detailed guidance on keeping records associated with each area and their retention.

Health and Safety Executive

  • The HSE has developed some interactive tools to help you understand what you may need to do to assess and control risks in the workplace and comply with health and safety law. This material can be accessed here.

Managing Risk - A Parish Resources Toolkit

The Charity Commission

  • The Charity Commission register and regulate charities in England and Wales, to ensure that the public can support charities with confidence.
  • They provide a wealth of templates and materials for charities to access which can be found here.

Governing Documents of PCCs

  • Charities have a range of Governing Documents. Charitable Trusts are governed by Trust Deeds, Charitable Companies will have a Memorandum and Articles whilst Charitable Associations usually have a Constitution.
  • Parochial Church Councils (PCCs) are charities, which are governed by two pieces of Church of England legislation, called Measures.

Ethical Investment Advisory Group

  • The EIAG gives ethical investment advice to the National Investing Bodies (NIBs): the Church Commissioners for England, the Church of England Pensions Board and the CBF Church of England Funds (managed by CCLA).
  • These policies are developed in conjunction with the NIBs, who then adopt them and put them into practice.
