Ely Cathedral and the Diocese of Ely are delighted to be hosting a Racial Justice Conference, with the support of the Racial Justice Unit.
The conference will look at how remembering the stories of our past can help to shape how we live together today and how we reimagine the stories of our future.
We have three excellent speakers joining us:
Prof Anthony G. Reddie, Professor of Black Theology and Director of the Centre for Black Theology, Oxford Regent’s Park College.
Prof Reddie's recent books include Theologising Brexit: A Liberationist and Postcolonial Critique (Routledge, 2019), and the republished Is God Colour-Blind? Insights from Black Theology for Christian Faith and Ministry (SPCK, 2020)
The Rt Revd Dr Anderson Jeremiah, Bishop of Edmonton
Bishop Anderson is a globally recognised Anglican Theologian with research interests in the lived facet of World Christianity, and its theological, political, and missional engagement in the wider society. He is deeply passionate about social and environmental justice as a Gospel imperative.
Revd Canon Dr Gale Richards, Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Centre for Baptist Studies
Dr Richards is an ordained Baptist minister, with a strong commitment to ecumenism. Her research interests include Womanist theology and Practical theology.
We are delighted that we will also be joined by Revd Guy Hewitt, director of the Racial Justice Unit, Barbadian British Anglican priest, racial justice advocate, and specialist in social policy and development.
There will be time for discussion as we ponder what this might look like in villages, towns and cities where we minister.
There is no cost for this event, but booking is essential. If you find you are unable to attend, please do cancel your booking by emailing missionandministry@elydiocese.org.
Everyone is invited to Ely Cathedral for Evensong following the conference.
