What three things can you do in May to take your first steps (or more!) as a church on your eco journey?
1. Start making your preparations for Churches Count on Nature happening in June! You will want to start pulling together your plans for your event, for instance,
- You could invite someone to help with species identification (or will you ‘have a go’ using Apps)
- Plan how might the (half) day will run
- Prepare your risk assessments
- Arrange refreshments
- Notify Caring for God’s Acre and the Diocesan Environment Officer (nigel.cooper@elydiocese.org)
- Advertise your event!
2. There's just 1 month left to submit your EFT!
- We’re asking all churches to enter their energy consumption data into the Energy Footprint Tool. This helps us to better understand our progress towards Net Zero as individual churches and as a Diocese. The annual deadline for submissions is 30 June, but we ask churches to submit their data no later than the end of May if possible, as this gives opportunity for us to contact and help support churches directly who have not yet managed to submit their returns. Please contact sacha.watson@elydiocese.org if you have any queries about your EFT submission.
3. Water saving week Monday 12 - Friday 16 May
- With warmer weather comes the need to think about how much water we’re using, so mark your calendars for Water saving week, and get ready for the daily challenges and water-saving tips. Find more tips at Energy Saving Trust.
