Sunday Morning Resources

Worship from home - Keeping safe and praising God

The Sunday Morning Resources are available for use in churches, and for use at home for personal reflecction or worship with those you live with. Based on the lectionary readings for the Sunday, each resource consists of a short reflection based on the Gospel reading. The homilies have been written by clergy and LLM/Readers in the Diocese of Ely.

The reflections are accompanied by suggestions for prayers, tied into the theme of the sermon, and also suggestions for suitable hymns and songs you may want to listen to online, or sing yourself if you know them. Some contributors also provide suggestions for all-age worship.

To access the resources simply click on the links below for the relevant Sunday and download the pdf file, which you can then print if you wish. If you use the resources, your feedback would be much appreciated - please email

Training Opportunities

  • Occasional Preaching: If you regularly use the Sunday Morning Resources and would like to explore preaching, you may want to explore the Occasional Preacher training. The next training date is Saturday 29th January 2022. Contact for more information.
  • Foundations for Ministry: This course is both for those already exercising, or looking to exercise, a leadership role in an area of ministry in their local church, such as leading Bible study or prayer groups or children’s ministry. It is also a good option for those exploring a vocation to licensed lay or ordained ministry in the Church of England as it serves as a good preparation for further training and (re-)introduction to the academic side of ministry training. Foundations for Ministry helps to develop biblical and theological understanding and ways of looking at issues and situations that affect individuals and communities and how the church can help. Foundations for Ministry runs every academic year, so the next one starts in September. It's available online, and is designed to fit around a busy schedule. Click here to find out more.
