Funeral Arrangements for Bishop Anthony Russell, Bishop of Ely 2000 - 2010
The Acting Bishop of Ely is pleased to announce that The Revd Jeanine Bossy, currently Assistant Curate in the Parish of Cherry Hinton, will be leaving on 20 September 2025 to begin training as a Chaplain in the Royal Air Force.
The Revd Dr Janet Constance Bunker, currently Team Vicar, in the Ascension Benefice, Cambridge is retiring, after 18 years of service, on 23 November 2025.
We were sorry to hear of the death on 11th May 2025 at the age 84 of The Rev’d Howard Clive Bigg and remember his wider family in our prayers.
We were sorry to hear of the death on 12th May 2025 at the age 78 of The Rev’d John Anthony Harper and remember his wife Sandra and the family in our prayers.
We were sorry to hear of the death on 7th July 2025 of Rev’d Edwin John Penny, John. We offer John’s wife Diana and the family our sympathy, love and prayers in their bereavement.
We were sorry to learn this week of the death of the former Bishop of Ely, The Rt Revd Dr Anthony Russell. Dr Russell served Ely Diocese from 2000 to 2010, as well as making a notable contribution to the national church's thinking about rural ministry.

The Revd Dr Mandy Jill Maxwell, Vicar of the Trumpington Benefice has resigned from her role. Her last official day in the Benefice will be 31 August 2025.

The license of the Revd Patrick John McEune, Vicar of The Raddesley Group of Parishes is extended past his 70th birthday, until the 20th October 2025.
We are pleased to announce that the Revd Canon Dr Jonathan Richard Kimber, who currently holds Permission to Officiate in the Worcester Diocese, has accepted the role of Interim Chaplain at Kings College, Cambridge starting from 14 April 2025. Jonathan is remaining Canon Emeritus of Peterborough Cathedral.
The Revd Jennifer Clare Hill, currently Priest in Charge of the 5fold Team Ministry, is stepping down from this role on 7 May. Jenny will continue to hold Permission to Officiate in the Diocese of Ely
The Revd Nigel Austin di Castiglione, currently Team Vicar, in the Papworth Benefice, is retiring on 31 July 2025. His last Sunday in the Benefice will be 29 June 2025.
