Support for Children's Workers

The Diocese of Ely is passionate about promoting and developing good work with children, young people and their families.

Children are spiritual beings with their own thoughts and feelings about God. Our role is to support, nurture and encourage them as they grow to a full and mature faith in Christ and to help them find their place to serve in the church community.

As we seek to support children we will engage with their families, offering support for them to develop faith practices in the home that enable everyone in the family to grow and flourish as they learn from each other. In Matthew 18:3 Jesus challenges adults to become like little children in order to enter the kingdom of heaven. Children and young people often lead the way in growing and developing in faith.

The new Children's Strategy has been developed to support the Ely 2025 strategy; it outlines four ways in which the Diocese seeks to support children as disciples of Jesus. It can be downloaded here.

Children's Adviser Role

The Diocesan Children's Adviser role is to create vision, resource, equip, train and encourage those working with children in the diocese. Different approaches will be needed in different settings and Debbie Hill is keen to support churches in discerning the best way forward to develop their work with children and families.

She is available to offer advice, training and resources for churches working with children aged 0-11 and liaises closely with the Diocesan Development Officer: Young People, Natasha Clark who works with secondary schools to promote engagement with faith.

Debbie can be contacted on [email protected] or 01353 652711 or mobile 07837 699016.
